While most car accidents involve one vehicle colliding with another, many include only one vehicle. Sometimes the vehicle strikes a pedestrian or someone on a bicycle. If so, Oregon law dictates that all medical treatment is to be paid for by the auto insurance company (presuming the driver of the vehicle is at fault). So, if you are injured in an accident involving a vehicle, even if you were not in a vehicle, the auto insurance laws apply to the case. Knowing this, you can seek treatment from any type of provider (chiropractor, acupuncturist, massage therapist, etc.) without any pre-authorization or referral like many health insurance policies require. For further information be sure to seek legal counsel.
