Many of our patients are surprised and sometimes scared to find out that symptoms following a car accident don’t peak until 12-15 days after the wreck. This delay in the onset of certain symptoms will often lead to people thinking there is something more than the injuries sustained in the accident. There are a couple reasons why it takes up to two weeks for symptoms to develop/maximize. The first reason is that inflammation levels vary and commonly peak in this two week range. Another reason is that our bodies are excellent at compensating and bracing for injured regions; after a while though, those compensating areas become problematic.
The providers at Marcum Chiropractic take pride in educating our patients about their injuries and treatments. We take the time necessary to explain all aspects of our treatments and help walk them through their healing journey. Please call us if you or a loved one has been involved in an auto accident. We will do our best to make you feel your best! 503-235-7130
